Stormpress – Eco-Friendly Printing
How we Print
We want to tread more lightly on the environment. Here’s what Stormpress does to reduce our carbon footprint and make your print eco-friendly:
- Supporting Woodland Trust’s Carbon capture scheme to create woodland
- Using chemical-free printing plates
- Using only natural, vegetable based inks
- Supporting and promoting plastic alternatives in print
- Recycling and reducing our waste materials
- Promoting eco-friendly and recycled stocks
Woodland Trust’s Carbon Capture Scheme
Paper is one of the few truly sustainable products, it is recycled on average 3.5 times a year in Europe and 4x more trees are planted than harvested!
Stormpress supports sustainable paper use through The Woodland trust’s Carbon capture scheme. Together with The Woodland Trust we’ve created almost one square kilometer of UK woodland in 2018, capturing 36.46 tonnes of Carbon dioxide – here’s our current certificate.
Our paper is sourced from mills certified to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) standards and we reduce our waste by managing stock carefully – all surplus is recycled.
Vegetable Based inks
All of our printing inks are vegetable oil based – these eco-friendly inks are derived from renewable sources, with less VOCs (volatile organic compounds) than petroleum based inks. Our natural-based inks don’t release VOCs when drying and don’t require harsh solvents to clean them, so even less VOCs. Our natural-based inks also make the deinking process in recycling much easier.
Chemistry-free printing plates
All printing plates are made without chemicals and recycled after use, so no toxic chemicals are used and less waste is produced as a result.
Solar panels contribute to powering our factory and some of our local deliveries are made on our Stormpress bike!
